About Us

Our History

1984

Kevin Staley is a partner based in Southern California for the Trammell Crow Company. Led the redevelopment of The Citadel, one of the country’s first factory outlet centers

1990

Kevin Staley co-founded The Magellan Group to focus initially on industrial opportunities in Southern California

1996

Formed the Southern California Industrial Fund (SCIF) to acquire $400 million of class B and C class industrial assets

1999

Seeing an opportunity in the burgeoning self storage market, acquired first self-storage facility in Irvine, California

2005

Built Magellan Storage into a top 100 self-storage firm in the United States

2008

Raised the discretionary Magellan Industrial Fund (MIF) to acquire distressed and value-added investment opportunities in the industrial and self storage sectors

2016

In partnership with Principal Real Estate Investors, developed the award winning Magellan Gateway in El Monte, California

2019

Kevin Staley formed Staley Point Capital and made the firm’s first investment to develop a $23mm self storage asset in Downtown Los Angeles

2020-2022

Eric Staley, a former principal at Blackstone, joins and leads the acquisition of $1bn of industrial and storage assets across two programmatic vehicles with Bain Capital

2023

Executed on several sales and closed third programmatic vehicle with Bain Capital with $1.5bn of buying power
